Enchantment Under the Lights: Beauty and the Beast Takes the Stage

Posted Date: 03/23/26 (10:00 AM)

A single red rose under a glass dome, surrounded by scattered rose petals. The magic of Broadway arrived in our school auditorium last weekend as the drama department presented its highly anticipated production of Beauty and the Beast. From the moment the curtain rose on the "Quiet Village," the audience was transported into a world of soaring melodies and stunning visual storytelling. The production featured a cast and crew of over sixty students, ranging from our powerhouse lead vocalists to the tech team managing the complex lighting cues that brought the Beast’s castle to life.

The performances were nothing short of professional. Eighth-grader Chloe Simmons stepped into the role of Belle with a grace that anchored the entire show. "I’ve loved this story since I was little, but playing Belle taught me so much about finding your own voice," Chloe shared during a post-show cast meeting. Opposite her, Marcus Thorne delivered a moving portrayal of the Beast, balancing physical intensity with a surprising vulnerability. The chemistry of the ensemble was particularly evident during the show-stopping "Be Our Guest" number, which earned a standing ovation at every performance.

Behind the scenes, the "Stage Crew" worked tirelessly to execute seamless set changes. Technical Director Mr. Henderson praised the students' precision, noting, "People see the actors, but the magic happens because of the thirty students in the wings moving mountains in the dark."

Important Reminder: For those who missed the live show, a limited-run DVD of the Saturday night performance will be available for pre-order through the Fine Arts Department starting next Monday. All proceeds will go toward funding our new wireless microphone system for next year's musical!
